Dear MCS or any other users with advice,

We would like any advice to speed up our sorting process of spikes recorded from mouse retinas. We use Offline Sorter v3 from Plexon to sort MCD data files. The process of opening channels is quite slow because the data files are relatively large (multi-GB).

With a SATA2 hard drive, we reached a top speed of 40 MB/s. We installed a solid state drive, Intel X25-M G2, but this only increased that rate to 60 MB/s. We were hoping to get closer to ...

Has anyone successfully installed / and used MC Stimulus II under Windows 7? I get it to install without problems (MC Stimulus II Version 3.2.1 so the newest from the homepage). But it seems to not recognize the STG 2004 under Windows 7. Interestingly I can see the Serial Number of the STG via MC Stimulus, and the STG2004 is also recognized by Windows 7 as an USB-Device (which also says Stimulus Generator), but I do not get the ability to "Connect" to the STG 2004 (the entire section ...

First, thank you for your supporting to the 64-bit Windows (Vista / 7)! They all works great!

But there is still a little problem with Stimulus II 3.1.1, it cannot connect the stg2004 under Windows 7 64-bit

Here is the steps to reproduce this bug:

1: Connect all the cables and make sure stg is ON.

2: Open Stimulus II 3.1.1

3: Stimulus II recognize the STG (for showing its serial number on the status bar), but it cannot connect to stg

4: Click "Connect", but ...

Hi. We're considering buying a second MEA1060 system and would like to record them both simultaneously (all 60 channels of each, not 60 channels total). (This would be using the MC_Card upgrade and not the USB 128ch system.)

Already, our preparation--typically mouse retina--using a single 60 channel amplifier can reach close to the limits of the performance or our PC (an E6750 clocked at 2.66 GHz) when we use peak detection and a spike sorter in the rack.

coated at all. Can you perhaps critique our current coating procedure?

Current method:

Sterilize the MEAs via autoclave

Treat them with FBS to make the surface hydrophilic,

I don't know if this is possible already somehow, but if not I'd like to suggest something. When you zoom to look at a single channel on MC_rack and use the crosshair tool to estimate time and amplitude it would be really helpful if the values of the x and y-axis would be displayed near the (x and y) scales on the beside the crosshair. Do you think this could be possible? It would be even better if one could drag several (or at least two) horizontal or vertical lines in the zoomed window ...

My time window extent is usually 1000ms. And i run the recording for ~75 sweeps.

Due to the dimension of the MCD file (1 GB) it is important to create a multithread program but it seems to me that the classes in mcstream do not support multi thread operation (for example the MCSEVTSPIKEClass cannot be instatiated inside a new thread).

What am I doing wrong?

However, I can not read the .mcd file if I use USB-ME256-system and MC_RACK version 3.7.0 to record data.
Can you tell me which gas is to be used in the plasma cleaning chamber - Argon, oxygen or nitrogen? Oxygen is a reactive (chemical) cleaning while Argon is a physical one. Also, what modes (primary or secondary; RF, DC etc. ) shall i use for the same?
Do I also need to worry about whether the array is Pt, gold or ITO and change gases or modes accordingly?

Regards,

Programming macro for MC_Rack

Hello

I'm not using MC_Rack for recording data, but I use it for computing Interspike Inteval (ISI) on sveral recordings.

I've got about 130 recording, and I need to extract the ISI of each of these 130files.

Is there any way to automatise it with MC_Rack? Or do you know a macro script language?

Thank you for help

Hello,

I am unable to perform the first functional test of my new MEA amplifier. I tried it as suggested in the MEA Amplifier BC-Inv manual, with the given test probe. I also tried it with an hexa-MEA. I faced the following problems:

When I add the MC_card to the data source, it allows me to select only linear 1D array layout, not 2D.

When I start the recording, I can see the expected baseline with offset on all channels. But the offset does not get corrected at all.

When I give ...

Hello

I'm actually using MC_Rack with the MEA 1060 INV BC preamplifier with its associate filter amplifier FA60S.
I've observed that in the beginning of each record, I obtain artefacts in all channels that disappear after few seconds.
Can you tell me more about these artefacts? Do you know if there is an explication of this evenment? How can I delete these artefacts?

Thank you
Best regards

Hello ,

Recently, I've made some experiment using MEA 1060 INV and I've obtaine a noise level of 40µV peak to peak, wich is very large so I cannot record spikes. I've changed the amplifier and I've used the MEA 1060 INV BC with its associate FA60S, and the noise level falls to 13.7µV peak to peak and I can view spikes in this case. So the problem is coming from the MEA 1060 INV. Can you tell me please if the noise level that I obtain with the first reference is normal? or if there is another ...

I want to ask about the four BNC connectors in the SD-MEA.
I've read the datasheet but I don't understand their role.
They are an inputs for signal from function generator?

and where this signal go?

thank you for your answers
