Spike sorter Empty Spike sorter

Post  mcs Thu Jun 12, 2008 4:05 pm

Hello,

Thank you for the new spike sorter. I'm just starting to use it, and was wondering how to save the sorted spikes into separate channels. I can save 2 streams: Spikes 1 (original), and Spike 2 (sorted), but both contain the same spikes (all of them!). How do I further break down the channels in Spikes 2 into their constituent units?
Could I feed the unit info into the analyzer, or could I at least extract them in Matlab or Nex?

Thank you again,
Walid

Hello

When sorting spikes, each spike gets an unit ID. When a signal fulfills the criterion it is marked with the unit ID, otherwise it is marked with a 0. Therefore, during sorting no spikes are removed from the data, but the spike is branded with the ID (you can rerun the sorting as often as necessary).
The current version of the Analyzer can not distinguish between units, therefore the extracted parameter include all detected spikes.
Currently, we are working on the Matlab import, and on the dll,
so that Matlab, Nex or the Offline Sorter can access the unit ID information.

Regards

Hello

I am going to get the sorted spikes in Matlab. And these sorted spikes were sorted by MC_RACK already. Do we have the cues to get the ID of spikes now?

Thanks and have a nice day.
