Burst Analysis Parameters

Post  Arthur on Thu Aug 19, 2010 8:03 am

Hello,

I am currently attempting to analyze burst data using the burst detection tool in spike analyzer. I am concerned as the parameters cap out at 1000 ms. Is there anyway to work around this limitation as the cells I am working with have fairly low rates of firing.

Cheers,

Arthur

Burst Analyzer limitations...

Post  ThomasMCS on Thu Aug 19, 2010 7:30 pm

Dear Arthur,

I think the limit of 1s is well above requirements for normal bursts. May I ask you to let us know a bit more about what kind of data you have and what analysis you like to perform? Maybe we can suggest a workaround for this analysis.

Greetings

Thomas

I am looking at analyzing Molluscan neuron firing patterns and they fire considerably more slowly than mammalian cells. What would be an approach you would suggest?

Dear Arthur,
most available burst detection and analysis algorhythms are of course optimized for mamalian cells. I suggest to consider the Neuroshare (http://www.multichannelsystems.com/links.html) platform and ask around in the user forums whether anybody has done something similar to your analysis before.
