Low-frequency baseline drift

Post  villekuj on Fri Sep 26, 2014 11:24 am

Hi,

I'm getting some fluctuation in the recordings. The whole baseline wanders a lot sometimes - especially if you stand close to the amplifier headstage. It's made worse just by passing your hand over the headstage without touching. We're using external grounds in the bath and we cover the middle of the amplifier with a 10 cm Petri dish bottom, which helps a little bit.

Any ideas where the baseline fluctuation is coming from?

Thanks.

V

Dear Ville,
do you know what the filter settings are for the system you are using? If the lower cut off frequency is set to 0.1 Hz the system becomes very sensitive to low frequency drifts. In any case, a grounded aluminium foil covering the MEA should help.

Thank you, Frank. Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, the lower cut off frequency is set to 0.1 Hz. The tin foil helps getting rid of the worst fluctuations.

Thanks,
Ville
