Gain settings for FA60SBS and MPA32
Hi,
we are trying to hook up a custom made probe to the mcs system to use the mc_rack software for recording in slices or slice cultures.
We are using a FA60SBC with a switchbox (2x32) ans a MPA32 headstage. We have made a custom probe using the neuralynx electrode interface board (EIB) 27. We have connected the wires according to mcs input pin connection scheme.
The problem is we are now trying to figure out how to set the amplification gain in the mc_rack software. The standard set for the gain, when we use with mea's is 1100. The amplification of the MPA32 headstage is said to be 10.
What is the amplification factor of the FA60SBC?
(It is not(!) written n the bottom of the box!)
What is the amplifcation of the MEA1060?
what is the correct setting in mc_rack for using the MPA32?
Many thanks for short answer!

Re: Gain settings for FA60SBS and MPA32
Dear Ullrich,
the settings for all of our filteramplifiers are customized. Please check your order to find out the gain of the actual devices.
Usually the preamplifiers (such as your MPA32) have a tenfold gain.
You have to multiply the pre- and the filteramplifiers gain to obtain the correct gain to set in MC_Rack.
The MEA1060 amplifier contains pre- and filteramplifier. The standard gain for this combination is 1100. However it might differ in your setup, as gains are customized.
You might want to doublecheck your settings by recording a defined signal from a waveform-generator.
Please check your documentation or mail us the serial number of the devices.(meyer@multichannelsystems.com)
Greetings
Thomas

Re: Gain settings for FA60SBS and MPA32
Dear Ulrich,
I could find the information about your devices without the serial number :
Gain of MPA is 10
Gain of MEA1060BC is 50
Gain of FA60 is 22
Greetings
Thomas
