Hello;

what’s difference between, monopolar and bipolar brain stimulation; I mean do we do get the same result by stimulating the brain by one electrode and a virtual ground (monopolar stimualtion) or with two electrode (bipolar stimulation ) .

Dear Ahmed,
we have no experience with in vivo stimulation, but in principle a stimulation will either depolarize cells above threshold or not. I assume a bipolar stimulation will produce a more dense electric field in the area between the electrodes, and hence will more likely activate the cells in this area.
