Noise trouble with new mea amp with blanking circuit
We have tried everything imaginable to reduce noise that we are getting when trying to record with the new amplifier- Nothing has worked- We think it might be the filter that came with the amplifier-Has anyone else had similar problems. The noise looks like spike activity, but it is on all channels and in the same area of each channel consistently (this problem has shown up on 4 separate arrays. We also noticed that when channels are grounded, they are still giving off a noise impedence level of 60Hz

Re: Noise trouble with new mea amp with blanking circuit
Dear Michael,
you know that we and our colleagues from ALA-Scientific instruments tried to solve the problem now for a couple of days.
There were many emails going round.
As far as we can say, it is not a problem with the amplifier itself.
All systems are double checked before they leave our house.
But just to clear up that case our CEO and head of the development department Andreas Möller will call you today to find out what the real problem is.
We try to provide best support as possible.
I hope you will be satisfied with our provision of services in this case as well.
Best regards

Re: Noise trouble with new mea amp with blanking circuit
Dear Michael
It appears that for an unknown reason it has been forgotten to send you an upgraded version of the isolated power supply that is integrated in the data acquisition computer. The fact that the new MEA amplifier with blanking circuit needs a higher supply voltage than the old one leads to these strange artifacts. We will send you a new power supply asap.
We are very sorry for your inconveniences and beg your pardon.
Christine, MCS

Re: Noise trouble with new mea amp with blanking circuit
We have virtually the exact same problem that Michael describes. Does this mean we do not have the higher voltage power supply?

Re: Noise trouble with new mea amp with blanking circuit
Dear Judson
The presence of strong and strange artifacts can indicate an insufficient power supply. This is especially true for the new MEA1060-BC with blanking circuit, which needs more power than standard MEA amplifiers. If you suspect a problem with your power supply, please write an e-mail to our support address (support@multichannelsystems.com) with the following information, and we will be glad to helping you.
* Type of amplifier in use
* Serial number of the IPS10W
* Type of the computer's power supply
* Screen shots of the artifacts in question
Best regards, Christine (MCS)

Dear fanping,
if you already sent us an e-mail with your screenshots, please ignore this message. Otherwise we would need an image of the noise that you are getting and the serial number of your amplifier. Also, a description of the MEAs and grounding that you use might help to identify the problem.
Cheers Frank Hofmann
