Detection of electrical signal
We use the MEA to record the electrical activity of cardiac cells.
We plate our cultures on fibronectin and they beat.
But using a home made amplifier, we have not signals in the output pad of MEA.
We have tested our amplifier, it functions.
We don't understand, how is a problem?
Thanks for your help

Re: Detection of electrical signal
Dear Sabir,
Let me say it this way- if you have followed carefully the steps as you can see in our application notes:
http://www.multichannelsystems.com/applications/applicationnotes/supportfiles/MEA-Applications_ChickenEmbryo.pdf
and the MEA Handling article
http://www.multichannelsystems.com/applications/applicationnotes/supportfiles/MEA%20Handling.pdf
then you should be able to record signals from the MEA with one of our amplifiers.
Other problems cannot be solved from here. If the cells are in good condition and good contact to the electrodes then there are other technical difficulties - beginning from the interface MEA to amplifier or somewhere else in the system.
Best regards
Siegfried

Re: Detection of electrical signal
I visited the Lab of Prof Hescheler some time ago and discussed this issue with one of the scientists. They add a really small volume of medium after placing the slice on the MEA (about 50-100uL). Than the volume is gradually increased in several steps. This procedure is very similar to the procedure described for brainslices.
