Matrigel coating

Post  jr4 on Sat Dec 08, 2012 9:49 pm

Hello MCS,

my lab is trying to establish a MEA recording system to study human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons.
We are currently using Matrigel in our long-term cultures, which seems to work really well so far.
I would like to know if anyone has ever coated MEA chips with Matrigel? Could this interfere with the quality of the extracellular recording?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Jan

Dear Jan,
we had reports from customers that it's problematic to completely remove the matrigel from the MEAs afterwards, but nothing about impact on recording quality.

Thank you Frank for the quick reply!

Do you think this issue might be resolved using a plasma cleaner?

Kind regards,

Jan

Dear Jan,
I am not sure, sorry. Maybe it's worth asking the guys who manufacture Matrigel whether plasma will dissolve it?

Best regards Frank
