Spike detection error

Spike detection error
I frequently encounter the following error message when using spike detection, specially during stimulations.
"System is at its performance limit (due to spike detector) and cannot process all data. Try to do 1 or more of the following: (i) remove unused displays, (ii) make displays smaller and view only 1-6 channels, (iii) remove analysis instruments and do off-line analysis. Please watch the status bar for information on system load."
This is seen irrespective of the number of displays that i have opened or whether the spike detection is done during recording or post-recording. The status bar at such times, always shows spikes (MB) as 9/8 (the numerator is >8,) and it stops proceeding further. Sometimes, the program exits by itself. As a result, I am not able to get a full minute recording every time I stimulate. Is there any way to remedy this? Even changing the thresholds does not help. When stimulation is not done, this error is not seen much and not a problem. Probably noise and the stimulus artifacts interfere and exceed the spike detector's capacity, but I hope there is some solution to it.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
K Fozdar.

Re: Spike detection error
Dear K. Fozdar
it looks like that the spike detector level is within the noise level and thus leading to the overload.
Please check the "Spike detector thresold" in the display window when you are looking at spikes and make sure that the spike detection level is OUSIDE the general noise level.
best regards
