Spike detection- Threshold
Hello,
I'm trying to detect spikes from an acute hippocampal slices using spike sorter function in MC_Rack.
I used the threshold- amplitude method. The problem is, I can only put threshold either + or - value. So if I set the threshold as -20 uV, it detects negative spikes but not positive. And vice versa.
Extracellular recording signals are mostly mixed with negative and positive, and there are so many spikes in my data that I can't perform the two functions separately.
Are there ways to set threshold for both shape? Or, did I overlook the function in MC_Rack?
Best regards,
Seon-Ah

Re: Spike detection- Threshold
Dear Seon-Ah,
using the threshold function you can ideed only determine one threshold level - be it positive or negative. However, you might want to use the Stddev method. it will detect any spike exceeeding noise level by a certain number of standard deviations. Also the slope based detection will get you positive and negative deflections.
