Trigger an external stimulator using MC Rack
Hello,
I am hoping to stimulate my slice using a bipolar wire instead of using the internal STG to stimulate one of the channels using the MC rack software. Is it possible to do this and simultaneously record from the MEA?
Any information would be appreciated
Thanks,
Adam

Dear Adam,
you mention an internal STG, so do you use a MEA2100? Or is it a MEA1060?

Re: Trigger an external stimulator using MC Rack
Dear Adam,
there is no way to route out the output of the internal STG to an external electrode. If you use an external stimulator, I would send a TTL simultaneously to the stimulation pulse to one of the four Digital Inputs on the interface board. They correspond to the bits 0-3 of the digital channel in MC_Rack. So you can set a trigger detector on the respective bit and trigger your recording to the external stimulator. Of course you lose the blanking functionality.

Re: Trigger an external stimulator using MC Rack
Is it possible with a portable ME32 system? In other words, can I send a TTL to start external stimulator?
Or Can I start and stop my MC Rack recording with trigger from external stimulator?

Re: Trigger an external stimulator using MC Rack
Dear Orkan,
both is possible. A TTL out and input is availabl on the partable USB-ME32 via LEMO connectors (D0 IN and D0 OUT). The easiest way would be to trigger the recording with a TTL from the external stimulator. Please see the on-line help of MC_Rack/Step by Step Tutorial/Monitoring and Recording Triggered Activity.
